Hibiwash Skin Cleanser 500ml
Hibiwash® is your trusted partner in helping prevent infections, promoting skin’s integrity, and saving time before performing surgical procedures. With 4% Chlorhexidine Gluconate, it provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and has been used in hospitals for many decades. This antimicrobial cleanser is highly effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, fungi, and viruses.
Unlike other disinfectants, Hibiwash is not absorbed into the skin but binds to it, forming a protective layer that continues killing microorganisms long after application. The unique formula ensures that bodily fluids do not inactivate the product, making it ideal for pre-operative, post-operative, and daily use in healthcare settings.
- Broad-spectrum antimicrobial – Kills a wide range of bacteria, viruses, yeasts, and fungi.
- Persistent protection –Forms a protective barrier on the skin, offering continuous protection for long periods after application.
- Gentle formula –Free from colour, fragrance, and soya oil, reducing the risk of skin irritation or allergic reactions.
- Sustainable production –Manufactured with fewer raw materials and less energy for an environmentally friendly approach.
Effective Infection Prevention
Regular use of Hibiwash helps prevent Surgical Site Infections (SSIs), with up to 11 in 100 patients at risk of infection within 30 days post-surgery. It has been shown to significantly lower the risk of Staphylococcus aureus infections by up to 60% when combined with nasal antibiotics. Unlike povidone-iodine, Hibiwash is not inactivated by bodily fluids, ensuring lasting efficacy.
How to Use:
- Pre-operative hand washing: Wet hands and forearms, apply 5 ml of Hibiwash, and scrub for 1 minute. Repeat the process, washing for an additional 2 minutes, then rinse and dry.
- Whole body cleansing: Patients can use Hibiwash before surgery by washing with 25 ml, paying particular attention to areas prone to bacterial accumulation. This should be repeated the day before and on the day of the operation.
Gentle and Effective Care
Hibiwash’s new formula, enriched with emollients, is gentle enough for frequent use while maintaining powerful antimicrobial properties. Ideal for healthcare professionals and patients alike, it helps reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs) while preserving the skin’s natural moisture barrier.
Ingredients:
Chlorhexidine Gluconate 4% w/v, D-glucono-delta-lactone, Isopropyl alcohol, Lauryl dimethyl amine oxide, Polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block copolymer, Sodium hydroxide, Glycerol, Macrogol-7 Glycerol Cocoate, Purified water.
Pre-operative skin antisepsis for the patient:
The patient washes his whole body in the bath or shower on at least 2 occasions, usually the day before and the day of operation as follows:
The day before operation the patient washes with 25 ml of Hibiwash beginning with the face and working downwards paying particular attention to areas around the nose, axillae, umbilicus, groin and perineum. Rinse the body, then repeat the wash with another 25 ml, this time including the hair. Finally the patient rinses his entire body thoroughly and dries on a clean towel. Repeated the following day. So you can wash bed-confined patients with Hibiwash using a standard bed-bath technique. Conventional disinfection of the operation site will then be performed when the patient is in theatre.
Post-operative skin antisepsis for the patients:
The patient washes his whole body, excluding the operation wound, in the bath or shower usually on the third day after operation using the procedure described above.
Children and elderly patients:
There are no special dosage recommendations for either elderly patients or children. The normal adult dose is appropriate unless recommended by the physician.
